The "Science" Behind Miracles

Albert Einstein once said, "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle". Now, as Catholics, we easily associate the word miracle with God, but don't worry if you're not one, Albert Einstein wasn't one either. If you're a Catholic like me, it is so much easier for us to see life as though everything is a miracle because we have been taught that ever since we were born, and we have been touched by God's love through the people around us, our parents, our friends, and the very life you keep. The mere fact that you are alive and breathing, reading this article is a sign of God's great love for you. But our hearts should go out to those who aren't.

I may not know what your religion is but who cares anyway? We are one and the same. You have a purpose here on Earth whether you do have a religion or not, whether you believe in a god or not, or whether you even believe in miracles or not. Einstein believed in Pantheism-- "the doctrine that the universe conceived of as a whole is god and, conversely, that there is no god but the combined substance, forces, and laws that are manifested in the existing universe" (Reese, 2012). Sounds too Einstein huh? Well, what I'm trying to say is, regardless of your religion, wouldn't it be better to see life in a positive light rather than in a negative one? To see everyone as your equal? To see each day of your life as a chance to live and make a difference, to make the world a better place? Because one thing's for sure, the world is definitely more beautiful with you in it.

Mother Teresa couldn't have said it any better, "We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop". Never ever feel superfluous about your life because your life is just as important as mine and even Einstein's!

Though it may seem like the Earth has lived billions of years to witness too many lifetimes to even care about one life, but even our own planet, no, our whole solar system has its own ending too and life will cease to exist. Our sun will run out of hydrogen in about 5 billion years, give or take. After that, it will become a red giant that devours the planets close to it, even Earth. Yes, that time may seem like it's still far away but think of it this way. Don't you think you're very lucky that you're alive and present in this age? It's a miracle! Out of all the chances, the time, and the people, you were chosen to be born into this world. You were given the chance to live, experience life, and to make your mark in the world. Now, think of those who couldn't? Still don't believe in miracles?
